Lessons are well organized, and this method is effective for teaching specific facts and skills, but the format of this type of teaching can stifle creativity. It should be noted that low-level timings are a complex issue on modern architecture, because the timing of a particular instruction often depends on its dependency on surrounding instructions. The nuances of mathematics instructional practices for online courses will be left for future research. Montessori, who previously worked with special needs students, rejected the notion that children were born as "blank slates." Rather, she believed that children were born with absorbent minds and were fully capable of self-directed learning.

I was the Deputy Team Leader for the United States at the 2004 International Mathematical Olympiad (Athens, Greece), and an Instructor at the Summer Program. (I prepared fewer handouts compared to 2003 because I mostly lectured from the book A Path to Combinatorics for Undergraduates: Counting Strategies, by Titu Andreescu and Zuming Feng.) This was the first year that I did a significant amount of teaching; I was a Junior Instructor.
